Dear KTI Families,
This year KTI is pleased to offer free childcare during High Holiday services to members of our community for children between the ages of two to five years old. As part of our childcare program, we will be serving a free lunch of bagels, cream cheese/margarine/jelly and cookies to our children.
If you wish to utilize our childcare program for any or all of the days of the High Holidays you MUST register your child/ren no later than the close of business on Friday ,September 23rd. Please know that this year children who are not pre-registered will not be able to participate in our childcare program.
As we are sure you understand, our childcare policies are in place to protect your children who you entrust to our care. For this reason, it is critical that if you intend to use KTI babysitting during the High Holidays, you carefully read the rest of this letter.
We would appreciate your cooperation with respect to the following:
- Childcare is only available for children between the ages of two to five years old.
- Children MUST be toilet trained.
- Bottles and only closed food packages with Kosher emblems will be permitted.
- All products brought onto the premises must be dairy and nut free.
- All children must be picked up by a designated adult.
- Children should not be left for a long period of time without a visit from a parent.
- There MUST be a parent responsible for the child on the premises of KTI at all times.
Please feel free to email me at ktied@congkti.org or call me at (914)939-1004 xt. 5 if you have any questions.
We are hopeful that with your cooperation, our high holiday childcare program will be successful. By abiding by the policies outlined above, you allow KTI to better protect your children. We look forward to a safe, healthy and happy High Holiday season!
Best regards,
Sylvia Spitalnick
Executive Director

Wednesdays, 1 - 2:30 PM, Social Hall Ever since Abraham’s famous argument with God, Judaism has been full of debate. Moses and Korah, David and Nathan, Hillel and Shammai, the Vilna Gaon and the Ba’al Shem Tov, Spinoza and the Amsterdam Rabbis . . . the list goes on. No wonder that Judaism cherishes the expression machloket l’shem shamayim, “an argument for the sake of heaven.” Beyond their historical importance, what makes these disputations so compelling is that nearly all of them, regardless of their epochs, are still being argued. The parade of characters spanning three millennia of biblical, rabbinic, and modern disputation reflects the panorama of Jewish history with its monumental political, ethical, and spiritual challenges. This series will examine Jewish responses to exile from the biblical period to our modern day. Considering texts from all genres of Jewish literary creativity, we will explore how the realities and iterpretaions Join as we re-open these timeless debates that lead us to the core of 3,000 years of Jewish conversation. • Justice: Abraham vs. God (October 19) • Holiness and Authority: Moses vs. Korah (November 9) • Inclusion: The Five Daughters vs. the Twelve Tribes (November 30) • Accountability and Morality: David vs. Nathan (December 21) • Resistance: Ben Zakkai vs. the Zealots (January 18) • Law: Hillel vs. Shammai (February 15) • Spirituality: The Vilna Gaon vs. the Baal Shem Tov (March 15) • Boundaries: Spinoza vs. the Amsterdam Rabbis (April 19) • Religious Evolution: Geiger vs. Hirsch vs. Frankel (May 10) • Zionism: Herzl vs. Wise (May 31) -
